The diary

19/02/2010: Early in the morning me and Thalia drove from Elati to Athens airport. About noon we were in Cairo. We spent the day with walks on the riverside of Nile.

20/02/2010: On our second day we visited the archaeological museum of Cairo, where the treasures of Tutaghamon are. After that we visited the great pyramids and also the famous sphinx. In the afternoon we visited Han el Halil bargain.

21/02/2010: By bus we reached Alexandria where we visited Kavafi's house, the Greek Patriarchate and also the very famous and unique Library. Late in the afternoon we were in Cairo were we spent the night.

22/02/2010: By plane we reached Aswan where we visited its famous Dam. In the evening we did a long walk with the camels and also a beautiful boating on the Nile.

23/02/2010: In the morning we cruise in the Nile and we reach Comombo. We visit the Temple of God Crocodile, Sobek. Afterwards, we went to Edfu where we visit the most well standing temple in Egypt (Temple of God Chorus).

24/02/2010: In the morning we were at Luxor where we visited Karnack's temple that has 134 parvis. Then by bus we visited on the west cost, the Kings valley that has over 60 graves of Kings, among them is the one of Toutaghamon. We also visited the burial temple of Hatsepsut and Memnons coliseum

25/02/2010: We woke up at 4:00 because we were flying at 6:30 from Luxor to Cairo. By bus from Cairo and after several hours we were at the Sinai chersonese. We spent the night at the hostel of St Catharine's monastery.

26/02/2010: At 3:00 in the night I met a tourist from England and the Italian group in the hostel entrance. Together with the Bedouin we start trekking in the night following the easy camel's route. The path is like dirty road and in crossing the valley. The friends were trek very slow such I left faster alone. Very soon I pass a huge Japanese group and I met the 4 Czech friends. With the 4 Czechs we travel together the previous day from Cairo to Santa Katerina. We continue together but we reach the summit of Gebel Musa 2284m at 5:30, much earlier than the sun rise. The mountain was covered by fresh icy snow and there are many Bedouin's huts where they selling tea biscuits etc on the way. Because it was very cold with strong winds on the summit we return little lower and we stay inside of a hut to have a tea, until the sun rise. Later we climb up to the summit to enjoin the beautiful sun rise. We return from the real Muse path which is passing from Elijah's spring and crossing the rocky gorge direct is going to the monastery, where I arrive at 8:30. Together with Thalia we visit the Monastery of Santa Katerina and at noon we walk to the village about 5 Km far from the monastery, where we had lunch. At the afternoon we return back to the monastery where we stay the night.

27/02/2010: About 5:00 in the morning we woke up because we had to catch the bus to Cairo at 6:00. We were in Cairo by noon, where we spent the rest of the day.

28/02/2010: We woke up very early and took a taxi to Cairo s airport. We flew to Athens, where we had left our car. About 18:00 we were back home to Elati.
